The public is invited to a special voter education program to meet the Democratic primary election candidates. There will be a short presentation by the candidates running for U.S. Congress in the 10th District: Vivek Bavda, Aloys Rutagwibira, Brad Schneider, Ilya Sheyman, and John Tree; for State Senate District 29, Julie Morrison and Milton J. Sumption; for State Representative, District 58, Scott Drury; for Clerk of the Lake County Circuit Court, Cynthia Pruim Haran; for Coroner, Thomas A. Rudd and Artis Yancey; for Recorder, Mary Ellen Vanderventer; for State’s Attorney, Chris Kennedy, Reginald C. Mathews, and Karen Boyd Williams. At this free event, Congressional, state, and county candidates in the March 20 Democratic primary will make brief introductory remarks and then mix and mingle with attendees.
The event is hosted by the Moraine and West Deerfield Township Democratic Organizations.
All Democratic voters are welcome. Free parking, free appetizers and cash bar.

Meet Chris Kennedy and hear about his campaign for Lake County State’s Attorney. A former prosecutor and Assistant Lake County State’s Attorney, Chris was lead prosecutor in numerous jury trials, successfully obtaining convictions in hundreds of criminal cases. Currently he is in private practice, focusing on civil litigation representing victims of negligence, fraud, and civil rights abuses in state and federal courts. He has taught classes on criminal law and evidence at Columbia College.

With primaries around the corner, 10th Congressional District voters can choose among five Democratic hopefuls: Vivek Bavda, Aloys Rutagwibira, Brad Schneider, Ilya Sheyman, and John Tree. To help voters decide, Tenth Congressional District Democrats (Tenth Dems) and WCPT-AM/FM radio have invited all five candidates to participate in a live, on-air candidate forum moderated by veteran Chicago political journalist Dick Kay.
For the past four decades, Kay has been one of the leading voices in Chicago political journalism. He hosted “City Desk” on WMAQ-TV and currently hosts the weekly talk radio show “Back on the Beat” on WCPT-AM/FM, Saturdays from 1:00 to 4:00 pm, which will be the venue for this candidate forum.
