When the Moraine Township Democratic Organization board first decided to hold a fundraiser, they expected just the “usual suspects” to show up. Little did they know that on the day of the event, they would be turning people away wanting to see the keynote speaker The Honorable Abner J. Mikva. For those of us who were able to attend, the evening did not disappoint. In my thirty-two years of living in this “so called” Republican area, I finally felt that the tide was turning. I commented at the time that it seemed almost symbolic that Judge Mikva was handing over the mantel to Dan Seals. We all know now that this opportunity was never able to come to fruition. However, I still feel that it is all of our jobs to make sure that mantel is handed to someone as soon as possible. On that note, please take time to enjoy the pictures that capture some of the magic of that evening. |
